Although the same originals were used by both administrations and the stamps are the same size, the finished products are quite different.
The British stamps were printed by Joh Enschede in Holland in sheets of 30, the Australian by SNP Print in sheets of 20. The British have phosphor bands which slightly affect the appearance but the difference seems to be the 'sharpness' of the SNP printing coupled with more contrast.
These images have been scanned at 800dpi 'straight', ie not through the plastic of a Hawid or other mount.
